Jeju Island Has More Men By Bae Ji-sook Staff Reporter Jeju Island, known _ its ``abundant wind, rocks and women'''' will have to change its signature brand as women are now outnumbered by men, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province said Monday. There were 565,519 people living on the island as of the end of 2008, with men numbering 282,937 and women 282,582. It is the first time since 1962 ― when research was first conducted ― that males outnumbered females. Seniors over 65 years old have increased _ adolescents under 14 years of age have gone down. There are two men and 62 women over 100 years old. The _eign population has jumped, too. The number of _eign residents marked 4,901, up about 18 percent from a year ago.
